Hey all. I figured I would start this board up with a request for someone to take up the responsibility of creating and editing a Pinhoti section 8 trail guide. We can discuss it in this thread if you like.

Which section are you referring to?  The sections were renumbered a couple years ago.  Pinhotitrailalli ance has the correct section numbers.  All new maps are in production as this goes to post. :-)

You do need to clarify which section 8 to which you are refering because some trail clubs have attempted to recreate the numbers.  I do not necessarily disagreee with their intent but it does offer continuing confusion.  The official numbering starts from the north and heads south.  Also, since Flagg mountain is not a part of the official Pinhoti, that sections should not have been included even by those trying to rearrange the numbering system.  Flagg might get ther someday but not yet.

I have no idea where you think section 8 is either, Matt. My 2008 edition of the "Pinhoti Trail Pocket Guide" numbers them from south to north, starting at Flagg Mountain.  It gives AL 13 sections and GA gets 18.  According to the PinhotiTrailAlli ance website, the 2010 edition still names 31 setions from south to north.  My 2008 copy says sec 8 is 9.5 miles from US 431 trailhead across I-20 to trailhead across US 78. I don't think that part needs a new guide??

It is out of date because it doesn't use the new woods trail at Flagg itself, nor the new trail across Rebecca Mtn.

Also property has been sold to The Nature Conservancy, that will put the trail in the woods from the Flagg Mountain woods trail to within 2 1/2 miles of Weogufga once all the formalities are finished and volunteers survey and clear it for the best footpath!
