I have a feeling it would not be easy nor fun canoeing upstream on Rush Creek. There's quite a bit of white water that would probably be difficult to canoe up. It would be a good test of strength. From Brushy Lake to the Brushy low pressure bridge would be a nice trip.

I'd be going downstream on brushy and then onto Rush.  hmmm, Maybe I'm getting my names mixed up.  I'm wanting to take out at the bridge you part at to get to sougahoadgee falls from.

I have been wanting to do it for some time now.  These photos really make me want to go.

What I want to do is make a two day trip of it.  I want to know how it is on down to 74/278.  Can you take out at 74/278.  Where would you camp along that route?

I have  and it's a good trip if you have the water.  It's a long hike though dragging a canoe in ankle deep water otherwise.  A gauge I used to determine the water flow is to measure at the bridge on Brushy Creek at the take out point, the beginning of the trail to Sougahoagadee (SP?) Falls.   If the water level is within  54 inches of the top of the bridge, you'll have a full float.  Much less than that and you'll do more walking than floating.  You'll need to plan a trip after a monsoon week of rain.  I think Brushy should be added to the Wild and Scenic River classification although was told only a "river" could be declared "wild and scenic" by the FS.

I agree with Pully though to float Rush, I'd put in at the Rush Creek bridge and float downstream to the bridge on Brushy.  Much better and actually enjoyable rather than going upstream against the rapids.

"It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it while you can, while it is still there. So go out there and hunt and fish and mess around.  Ramble out yonder, explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air. Sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space.  I promise you this one sweet victory, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by calculators. : you will outlive the bastards."
