We just got back from our trip to the Okefenokee. I highly recommend this trip to anyone that enjoys paddlin. We put in aroud 8:30 cst each day and made day trips out and back. We visited Billy's Island, named after the Indian cheif  Billy Bowlegs. At one time there were 600 people living on the island running a logging operation. Now all that remains is a few old pieces of machinery and a cemetary. The newest grave was from 1930. We also Paddled the Suwanee River through the Swamp. We saw only 2 gators the 1st day. I assume because it was in the 30's that morning. On the 2nd day we found 11 during the day. Lots of deer, squirrels, Racoons, & birds. Oh yea, We walked some of the back country palmetto fields and the rattlers are already out. We saw 2. Don't know how many we didn't see. Awsome Trip for anyone with any paddlin skills. Carl W.

Cool pics and report Firedog, I bet that trip was fun. That gator sure does look close Shocked, I didn't think you would see so many reptiles being winter and all. I am planning on paddling for a week, when the weather warms up. I will probably be on the coosa though.

Beautiful pictures! I'm itching for the weather to break. Our water is still high around here.
