Does anyone know if there is a place to check on trail closings?  This past weekend I parked at the Cleburne County TH and hike north.  At FS 531 (around mile 6 or 7), there was a posting the trail was closed for controlled burning that was going on that weekend.  I assume its just for the weekend  but it would be nice to know in advance for future trips.

You can call the US Forest Service Shoal Creek or Talladega offices.

I called Shoal Creek ranger station to get information on prescribed burns last weekend. They told me that they had recently burned the area close to Pine Glen campground. I have tried to make a habit of calling the rangers office before I do overnights. I smelled and saw smoke, while I was on top of Dugger last weekend, never saw exactly where it was coming from. I passed many scouts, I just figured they were making fires or something near Burns trailhead.
