I just ordered me some new hiking shoes  Grin

http://www.geartrade.com/item/119247

Well they are the same one's I was wearing, just different color, until the neighbor's dog stole the left one off of my front porch (BAD DOG!!!!) but I am excited to be equiped again. Got a great deal too. Regular retail for these is $109. A little steep! But I got these for $64 including shipping because the packaging is damaged. I will let you know if they are what I expect when they come in. This geartrade website may be a good find.

and I think I am in love. They are damn near the perfect low hiker. They breath well, have just a little extra room in the footbox for swelling, and they aren't loaded with a ton of squishy padding. I have tried on about every shoe available in the state over the past week and haven't found anything close.

Montrails are great shoes, I have had the same pair for 5 years and they are finally breaking down. I recently purchased a pair of Salomon pro 3D ultra GTX that are now my favorites. I couldn't find a local retailer that carried the Montrails in a GTX model so I opted for the Salomons. Super comfortable fit for a wide fore foot and it has a great fitting heel cup and pad that keeps my foot from shifting forward. The "Quick Lace" system is pretty cool too, the laces that were in the Montrails I had before wouldn't stay tied without double knotting.  Happy Trails.......... ..

Well, I got my shoes monday and have been wearing them all week. I am very pleased. The purchase process was easy. The seller shipped them quickly. And they are what they were advertised as. I have since been browsing around the geartrade site some more and they have a lot of good deals on everything from tents and packs to shoes and clothing. Might check them out if you are in the market. I just like the idea of slightly used gear at big discounts!!!!!!

A little help here please!
I need to buy a new pair of hiking boots in the next few weeks. I do a lot of offtrail hiking and bushwhacking.
I would like to keep the price under $200.00. I insist on waterproofness. I am currently wearing Vasque boots
and the only complaint is the lacing cleats. I've hiked with folks who wear hiking shoes and at day's end when
they are squeezing the water out wet socks, I am pulling off dry ones; this has resulted in more than one to
switch to boots for future hikes.

Vasque Sundowners unless you want something lighter. I know these will be the next pair I buy.

Coosa outfitters was selling them for 159.00 when I was in there last week.

My personal favorite also for a leather boot.

Sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space.  I promise you this one sweet victory, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by calculators. : you will outlive the bastards." I got a pair of Vasque Wasatch II's and a pair of Sundowners.  I love both, but the Sundowners have been the most comfortable boot i've owned.  Very rugged, fit well, easy to lace/unlace, great for all terrains.

I got these awesome pair of hiking shoes/boots in New Zealand. They were 400 NZ dollars($300). I spent a week hiking through endless rain and and water and my feet didn't get wet once. Also they were extremely comfortable. I'd post a pic but they are back in Bama right now. I'm planning on wearing them on my 200 mile Himalaya trek.
