I've been thinking about hiking in Steele Hollow.  Does anyone have any knowledge or experience hiking in that area?  Any POIs that you may have heard about?

Sorry, Josh.  I should have said I was talking about Steele Hollow in Bankhead National Forest.

What area of Bankhead Forest is it located in?

It is just over the hill behind the Beulah Church Cemetery.

Did you go?
I only took a little hike up around the top of the hollow the other day.  It was late, and I only tramped around for less than an hour.  I do plan to go back and check it out more thoroughly as soon as I can.

The one in Lawrence county or Franklin County?  I have never heard the one in Lawrence county called that.

It's the one in Franklin County, Uncle Wayne.  You know, the one just down the road from the FAA radar station.

Thanks.  I've never been hiking in that area of the forest.  That gravel / rock road by the church comes to a end on top of Mt. Hope mountain and goes right by the Beulah Bluff Shelter.  It has an interesting painting on the inside and a huge mortar hole.  I uploaded three photos to the gallery.  Here's one.

One of the locals who lives on the ridgetop just west of Steele Hollow told me there is an interesting bluff and shelter in Steele Hollow.  I aim to find it when I explore the area more thoroughly.

I checked out the Beulah Shelter last Saturday. It's a really neat place. It also has a sun drawing in the back and the words "Indian Hut" with an arrow by it. There's a well worn trail that goes right by it.

Let me know when you get ready to go back to Steele Hollow.

If you know where to look, there's a set of crossing tomahawks also but they have faded badly.
