Great hike with Wild South yesterday, pully and his dad were there as well.  A much slower hiking experience than I'm accustomed too, but overall enjoyable.  The sun was a huge huge problem with photography, and there are several photo worthy waterfalls here.  There were also a number of fossils to be seen, some in the stream bed, along with chunks of petrified wood pully and I found in one of the overhangs.  Overall we saw 8 waterfalls, though some of these were off trail adventures that pully and myself photographed without the group.  There were also 4 "H" trees, and one possible arborglyph, but whatever was there was incredibly faded an almost impossible to decipher.  In one of the caves there was an inscription that read "1904 with the initial KE and WMW spaced apart a little.

I seriously wanted to go on this particular hike, but I couldn't squeeze it in.  I'm glad you guys went and had a good experience.  I look forward to the posting of your pictures.

I edited the original post and added a link for the photos.  Here's one of my personal favorites...note pully in one of the holes on the right

It was a nice hike. The sun was definitely messing with the photography. The tallest waterfall, which should be called Slippy Mud Falls, was almost impossible to get a good shot of due to the sun. We saw one of the coolest bluffs I've seen in Bankhead which was where the inscription was located. Here's more pictures. Pictures

Pully, I can tell by your photos that the bluff is beyond awesome.  I'll be planning a trip their myself when I can.  As always, thanks for posting pictures.

Slower? I better get with WildSouth. Good photography and fast hiking are mutually exclusive. Wink

Sounds like a blast. I really wanted to go on this one, but I totally forgot about it until it was too late.

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing.  We had hoped to join in on this hike but had to change our plans at the last minute.  I've never been there before.  Who led the hike?

So go out there and hunt and fish and mess around.  Ramble out yonder, explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air. Sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space.  I promise you this one sweet victory, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by calculators. : you will outlive the bastards." Eh, 4 miles in 5 hrs....but I treat photography as almost an afterthought sometimes.  Pully and myself saw 8 waterfalls whereas most of the others saw 5.  I did get mistaken for being 18 or 19, so that made the hike even better!  Smiley

Janice Barrett I think was her name.  Incredibly soft spoken and hard to hear most of the time, but a nice lady.
