Okay, wx forecast Saturday & Sunday looks awesome.

Anybody interested in one of the following locations Saturday?

- Eagle Creek in Sipsey
- Cane Creek Preserve in Tuscumbia
- Savage Gulf in TN
- Caney Creek in Bankhead

Eagle Creek needs to get done in March, or the leaves will return. Cane Creek Preserve would be good without the leaves, because in the spring (when the wildflowers are great), the geological features are obscured. Savage Gulf has trails and dogs are allowed. Caney Creek could use some downstream (post lower cc falls) exploration while the leaves are still off.

I was thinking about heading over to Savage Gulf.  Let me know if you are going to go there.  Will you be camping or day hiking?

Anybody else up for Savage Gulf? One reason I want to go is that I need to scout for wildflower locations for the spring, since I already know some confirmed locations now, and need to scope out other areas that I should check now, to avoid wasting time in my crowded spring schedule.

I would probably have to do Savage Gulf as a dayhike, as I am not equipped for camping while the nights are still so cold. However, since I am only about 2 hours away, I could do two days of hiking if there was interest, or at least stay pretty late on Saturday. If we can get a group of a few people together you wouldn't even notice my absence.

I'll consider it.  I need a few days away.

I will probably head over on Friday and camp close to the parking lot on Friday night.  Let me know your plans and we will meet up.  Would love to get a group of folks over there.

I'm gonna stay close to home.  Been running too much lately with Pinhoti Challenge hikes the past two weekends in a row.  Spring break coming up in 8 days, so I'm gonna rest up for that.

Wish i could go, but i'm backpacking on either the Skyway Loop or Pinhoti/Odum trails this weekend with my kids!  I drove through the Savage Gulf area last month - it's beautiful!

With predicted lows in the 20's I'm definately not going to be camping, but I'll be glad to meet up at one of the trailheads on Saturday morning, and again on Sunday if there is continuing interest, or we could always meet at another park on Sunday, too, if there was interest. Several TN state parks are nearby.

Weather looks great for hiking.

Thinking about Eagle Creek NEXT Saturday, if the weather holds up.

I think I'm probably going to end up staying closer to home this weekend.  Maybe Sipsey for a day hike.

Okay... So far two for Savage Gulf? Kinda a small group. Anybody else interested?

OR... How many would be interested in a dayhike in Sipsey, say Eagle Creek or Caney with some downstream exploration? Caney is pretty tame, and even Eagle isn't that bad if it isn't muddy.

I just found out that I do not have to work tomorrow so my plans have changed a little.  I am going to Savage Gulf tomorrow and will probably hike to Hobbs Cabin to camp tomorrow night(assuming that I get there in time)  I will then probably camp Sat night at Dinky Line, then get an early start and a short hike back to the truck to get home at a decent hour on Sunday.  I hope this does not mess anything up for you Joshua but I gotta take full advantage of a 3 day weekend, they don't come around all that often!!!

Nevermind on Sipsey. I haven't slept good in a few days and I don't want to get up early on Saturday.

Sam... I think there is about a 50% chance I'll be in Savage Gulf on Saturday, and about a 50% chance I'll be at Scott's Gulf instead. I need to scope both out, but Scott's Gulf is a lot closer. I'll let you know in a bit.

I think I'm going to hit Scott's Gulf on Saturday. I have to scout out the trailheads in advance of some wildflower hiking there in April. I've never been there, whereas I have been to Savage Gulf. It is also a bit closer.

If it's the virgin falls area you're heading toward, it's a spectacular place...

I'm probably not going to make it to Virgin Falls. but I'll be in the area. And... I think I'm going to go Sunday, as it is going to be warmer.
