Sample letter to Senator Sessions

Honorable Jeff Sessions
326 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
Dear Senator Sessions:
First, I want to thank you for your past support of the Pinhoti Trail. As a result of that support, the Pinhoti has become Alabama’s premier hiking trail linking the beautiful Talladega Mountains and Talladega National Forest to the famous Appalachian Trail in north Georgia.
Second, I encourage you to support $95,000 of trail construction funding for the Pinhoti Trail in the Interior and Related Agencies Appropriation Bill for fiscal 2011. The Alabama Trails Association and the Alabama Hiking Trail Society recently submitted request forms for that $95,000.
Those funds will construct needed trail on Rebecca Mountain at the southern end of the Talladega National Forest. In part, this trail will cross 1,100 acres of land on Rebecca Mountain that private funds and Congressional appropriations purchased for addition to the Talladega National Forest in 2009.
Also, funding for the construction of the Rebecca Mountain portion of the Pinhoti Trail will be very important to recent State of Alabama efforts to take the Pinhoti Trail another 15 miles south from the Talladega National Forest to a southern terminus on Flagg Mountain in Weogufka State Forest in Coosa County. A Congressional appropriation of $95,000 would allow the State and the Federal Government to work together towards bringing the Pinhoti south to Weogufka State Forest.
Again, thank you for your support of the Pinhoti Trail.
