I ran across this video, I thought ya'll would enjoy. Especially if your a history buff. It is filmed in 1937. It shows deveopment of the Alabama State Parks. Including Oak Mountain, Weogufka, Desoto, & Cheaha. It shows the towers at Cheaha, & Flagg Mtn. Enjoy. Carl W.

Wow I actually used to live in one of the buildings they show in birmingham in the early portion of the video. Very cool.

So go out there and hunt and fish and mess around.  Ramble out yonder, explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air. Sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space.  I promise you this one sweet victory, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by calculators. : you will outlive the bastards." That is awesome!  I have a link to another similar one documenting the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps.  With all of the CCC structures up around Cheaha, and the remains of the old camp up near Kinlock -- the CCC's marks are everywhere.

You can cursor down to the bottom of the page and right click on a link, then save the video to your hard drive.  It's a big file, but very worth having.

Bob Pasquill, a Forest Service archaeologist for Alabama wrote a book that documents all of the CCC activities in AL.

Anyone know how I can download this video to my computer? I'd like to share it with some LNT trainers and trainees. I will be where there are no internet connections so I need it on the hard drive.
