5/15. Pinhoti Challenge dayhike. This month, we’ll be hiking a section of trail located in Section 15 of the Alabama Pinhoti between Porter’s Gap and Clairmont Gap. This is the 16th hike in our Pinhoti Challenge series, and gains a rating of strenuous due to the extremely rocky terrain on certain parts of the section, warmer weather, and distance. We’ll climb from around 800 feet to 1,500 feet. Along the 8.9 mile trek, we’ll see plenty of late spring wildflowers, mountain laurel in full bloom, and Talladega Creek. Make sure to bring a camera.
