I am new to hiking and would like to get out more. I don't know anyone in my area that really likes to go out hiking. I  would like to join a club or group so I can meet other hikers and get in on some group hikes and hopefully meet some hiking buddy's that I can hiking with often. I am about 30 min from the base of Cheaha Mount and live almost in the shadow  of Dugger Wilderness. So there are plenty of places  I can go I just don't wont to go alone. If anyone  knows of a good group or club to join or you are looking for a hiking buddy let me know.

Thanks
Bella

or just meet others on this site by asking - reading when someone will be going out and join them.

I hope to have time myself for maybe a 3  to 5 night hike in the next month but would hope to find one or 2 of you to go with me if possible. If you have time to drive to north Ga, you can often find people to hike the AT with over at whiteblaze.net

thanks.  i have not been out overnight yet but i am really looking forward to it.  i still need to find a tent.  almost got one last week but i decided to get a water filter. i have been on two hikes one of witch i ran out of water and the other one i had to conserve my water. it really messes with your head when you water gets low.

if any one has a tent to sell let me know.

Bellaleo, Since you live in Oxford, I think I remember correctly, Check out the Anniston Outdoor Association.

These links will get you intouch with them.
Keith Hudson chairs the group and has started a Facebook page. Also Phil Martin is in this area also and has Coldwater Mountain Hikers on Facebook.

I also have found some good deals on tents on eBay. I have a Wenzel 2 man tent they are fairly light and cheap.

Thank you so much for the links. The AOA sounds like a great group. I will be joining them soon. They have a lot of upcoming events.
