Second attempt at this post.  Not sure what went wrong with the other one.

I made a return visit to an old arborglyph found upstream from Hemlock Falls and sad to say, it has been blown over.  I've always thought Mr. Bill (William) Tidwell (of "Prayed To God" fame downstream of Parker Falls) carved the Pipe Smoking Man but can't prove it.  Very near to the Pipe Smoking Man is another fallen beech with the name "William Tidwell" carved in it.

I'll try to attach some photos my cousin made:

"It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it while you can, while it is still there. So go out there and hunt and fish and mess around.  Ramble out yonder, explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air. Sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space.  I promise you this one sweet victory, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by calculators. : you will outlive the bastards." I wish I hadn't missed these on my trip through there last year.  It may be fall or later before I get back out to Sipsey at the rate I'm going.  I'm sure these will be pretty degraded by then.

It's sad to lose another one! :'( Have you notice all the old ones are spelled with big letter's. Also look for the backward 9's in the early 1900's those are good one's too! I found a really nice whiskey still & jug carved in a tree.  The whole tree had just  broke off above it. Gone now Sad I love finding these in Bankhead. Chalk is a must in your pocket for off trail trips. It makes these carvings come alive. Cheesy
