My son just went to basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood ,Mo. He will be there until August sometime,I am planing on going there for graduation but I don't want to stay in a hotel. I am looking for a nice campground near the base. Call me cheap but I like the outdoors lol.
Anyone on here ever camped there or lived there that may have info?
Thanks and Mods if this is in the wrong place please move...

My dad lives in nearby Rolla, MO. I'll ask him if he knows of anything. I'll be up there in July and plan on doing some hiking in Mark Twain Nat'l Forest.

That is basically in Mark Twain National forest and near all kinds of other places like Lake of the Ozarks state park.

Here is what my dad sent me:
The Fort has a camp-ground right out one of the back gates on the Piney River. Info below. There's also Lake of the Ozark Rec Area run by FLW. It's about 50 miles away from post, but super nice. He can pitch a tent or rent a great cabin. Right on the lake too. His son will have to be the one that gets him in to either area (I think) using his military ID card.

Do a word search "camping"
