I am in the middle of reading "Walking With Spring" about Earl Shaffer's thru hike of the AT in 1948 and I found  that his only sleeping gear was a "Paper Mill Blanket". However, I can't find out anyting about it. How big, thick, or heavy was it? Would it compare to an army surplus wool blanket? I just find all of his gear very interesting. Any thoughts?
