11/13. Pinhoti Challenge dayhike.  This month, we’ll be hiking a section of trail located in Section 5 of the Alabama Pinhoti between Clairmont Gap and Adams Gap.  This is the 17th hike in our Pinhoti Challenge series, and gains a rating of strenuous due to the terrain.  We’ll vary in elevation from around 1380 feet to 1750 feet.  Along the 6.6 mile trek, we’ll see quiet woods, fall colors, rocky outcroppings, and Burgess Point – the highest point in Section 5.  Make sure to bring a camera.  Hiking boots a necessity, as well as plenty of water and a picnic lunch.  There will be an optional dinner afterwards.  E-mail for meeting place and time., jay_hudson@bellsouth.net

The time will change November 7th, so we'll need to get going slightly earlier in order to finish by sundown:

Meet at 7 a.m. at Cracker Barrel at the intersection of I-459 and U.S. 280, or 8:30 at Target in Oxford just off exit 188 on I-20 east.
