11/20. Pinhoti Challenge dayhike. This month, we’ll be hiking a section of trail located in Section 8 of the Alabama Pinhoti between U.S. 431 and U.S. 78. This is the 18th hike in our Pinhoti Challenge series, and gains a rating of strenuous due to the distance. We’ll vary in elevation from around 900 feet to 1,200 feet. Along the 9.5 mile trek, we’ll see quiet woods, beaver ponds, the bridge over I-20, and three separate pipeline crossings stretching from east to west along the I-20 corridor in the southeast. Make sure to bring a camera. Hiking boots a necessity, as well as plenty of water and a picnic lunch. There will be an optional dinner afterwards. E-mail for meeting place and time,
