Trekking Poles....

Trekking poles, I have them and have seldom used them. They seem to make my hike more comfortable but I have concerns about using them because I'm not certain of their impact on the trail. Do they cause significant damage to the trail such as erosion and flora/fauna damage. What are your opinions and/or facts pertaining to the matter? Rob

I would think the damage caused is insignificant compared to your boots and tent stakes.
