Bartram National Recreation Trail ?

Anyone have any experience on this trail in the Tuskeegee Nat Forest? I'm down by Montgomery and it's the CLOSEST thing I can find. We don't mind making it up north, but this is close range.
Any insight would be much appreciated!

This one is a yawner, IMO. The trails at Lake Martin on AL Power property are more interesting, but I can't remember what they are called and how to get there. Someone will chim in with more answers for you.

True it's not overly exciting, but it is nice & close. Its at least worth checking out. Some parts, particulary along the creek, are rather nice.

Every journey begins with a single step.

aubie, There are a bunch of trails between Wind Creek and Kowliga. They are on Russell Land. We hiked 3 of them a few weekends ago. They are nice. I believe you can type in Russell Lands and it will come up. You can go online and print off a map. There is also Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail which is close to Martin Dam. These are also neat trails. I haven't been to Bartram so I can't give any info on it.

I backpacked this back in October 2010 & was disappointed myself as the marsh was all dried up & not all that impressive so perhaps it is better to do in the winter? If so wear orange as I found many shotgun shells along the trail. The trip wasn't a complete sleeper though as we happened to run into a professor doing some research there who told us about a place minutes from there with some good wildlife viewing & it wasn't the marked wildlife viewing area but a bit further down the road from there. We were hoping to see some beaver but instead jumped several deer around the dried up lake which was the probably the highlight of the trip. If your close by check it out & everything around it, if not perhaps check out a different area as Alabama has some far better places to be seen such as Sipsey, Little River Canyon, Hurricane Creek, etc.
