The folks in Georgia have quite the Pinhoti trail at 155 miles!  Check out a section sometime.  In contrast to the Alabama Pinhoti, theirs is mostly multi-use.  The trail, which once went right through downtown Rome (yikes!) has been moved to the west.

Never thought about this before, but I guess we could thru-bike it in 3-4 days instead of hiking it in 10+ days.

I'd be interested in either hiking the 2 woods sections or biking all of it but not by myself.  Let me know I could "hook up" with anybody in the next 3 months to do it.

I run Mulberry Gap Mountain Bike Get-A-Way.  We are located near the terminus of the Pinhoti Trail system in Georgia.  We support any efforts to hike, run or bike the Georgia Pinhoti Trail and are organizing a supported ride of the entire trail.  Let me know if we can help you guys with information or support.  Good luck and enjoy!

Thought I'd help you out Gapper!  I'm sure I'll be visiting soon to hike and/or bike.

What is the current word on moving the roadwalks into the woods?  I have hiked the AL Pinhoti from Bull Gap to the Jackson Chapel Trailhead in Georgia and then to Cave Springs.  The two most miserable parts were hiking down the Chief Ladiga rail trail to Piedmont and back and from Jackson Chapel Trailhead to Cave Springs.  The Blacktop and the shoulders just pounded my feet.  Even the Rock Gardens south of Cheaha weren't that hard on my feet.
