I thought this would be a good place to share this message sent to me by Janice at WildSouth.  I know it is short notice, but someone might want to go...

Public Meeting Wednesday, Jan. 23 of the Cordova Industrial Development Board
at Cordova, AL City Hall

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the mineral lease related to the proposed strip mine (coal) at Shepard's Bend on the Mulberry Fork of the Warrior River.

There is much controversy around and opposition to this proposed 1700+ acre strip mine.  29 wastewater discharges will be located across from Birmingham Waterworks, a major source of drinking water for Birmingham.

Anyone concerned about strip mining on the Mulberry Fork and protecting clean water is encouraged to attend and show support for the local community fighting this proposed mine.

For more information, call Randy Palmer at 205-633-3759 or 205-792-1869
or you may contact me (info below)

Please forward to interested parties and attend if you can.

Thank you!

Looks like it might have to be litigated to stop it. Evidently the board was seeing $$$.

I've been informed that Jack Drummond isn't connected to Drummond Coal.  At least THAT isn't a flagrant violation of public trust.  The rest of it reeks.
