Hi guys!!  I need some info.  We are planning to do an overnighter next weekend.  We want to start at the Cheaha TH and take Cave Creek down to Nubbin then on to Odum, take the connector over to the Pinhoti then back to Cheaha TH.  My questions is how many miles will it be from Cheaha TH to Odum?  We are trying to plan our mileage per day and where we will camp Saturday night.  I have read many posts about Cave Creek but could not find one with mileage.  I also printed to detailed map someone was nice enough to share.  Thanks for any help!!!

Not sure how many miles that would be but I know the whole loop is around 13. There is a well established campsite where the Pinhoti intersects with the Odum and Chinnabee Silent. I am guessing that is around a halfway point? Correct me if I'm wrong anybody! Great spot to camp though.

13 miles is absolutely right on.

Cheaha Trailhead down Cave Creek Trail to intersection with Pinhoti connector = 3 miles.
Cave Creek Trail from Pinhoti connector to intersection with Nubbin Creek Trail = approximately 1 mile.
Nubbin Creek Trail to intersection with Odum Scout Trail = 2 miles.
Odum Scout Trail to intersection with Pinhoti/Chinnabee Silent Trails = 1 mile.
Pinhoti Trail back to Cheaha Trailhead = 6 miles.

Make sure not to miss the McDill Point side trail on the way back to the Cheaha Trailhead, which will add about 1/2 mile (1/4 mile each way) to your journey!  This is one of the best views anywhere in the Southeastern U.S.

Totally in love with McDill point. If it were not for the ground you stand upon, you would have nearly a 360 degree view. There is plane wreckage at the point where you take the trail to the point. Make sure you explore that and get a gander at the smart ass graffiti on the wreckage. :-)

Stargazer, I'll be at Walls of Jericho all weekend. Should get rain on Friday to dump into the Walls. Expected to by chilly at night, just like I like it!

Hike update!  Mark and I started out early last Saturday at the Cheaha TH.  We took the Cave Creek trail to Nubbin and then on to Odum Scout trail.  The day was beautiful and just right for a hike.  We met several hikers out enjoying the day.  We decided to make camp where Odum/Pinhoti/Chinabee intersect.  There were several people who came through: day hikers, a boy scout troop from Mobile, overnighters.  We looked for water and there was NONE!  Glad we packed in extra.  We had someone's hunting dog decide to spend the night with us.  He had a collar and we tried to call but no answer.  He was gone in the morning.  Hope he made it home.  When we woke up before daylight it was cold and the wind was blowing like a hurricane.  We skipped breakfast, packed up quickly and got off the ridge.  The next few hours we encounter the rock gardens and several wonderful lookouts.  The views were beautiful.  We went out to McDill Pt.  We tried to take a break here and enjoy the scenery but the wind was howling.  We tackled Hernandez Peak and eventually made it back to our truck at Cheaha TH.  We had a good time and enjoyed a new section of trail that we have not hiked before.  We are now trying to plan our next weekender.  I think we are going for the Porter's Gap to Adam's Gap section and then Adam's Gap to Cheaha.
