I get out of school next week until Jan. and I would like to do the section of the BMT that connects to the AT. I have done some research and I will probably start about 70 miles from the AT. What condition is the trail in? Is water a problem in this section? Thanks, Luke

Ask your question to Sgt Rock at  http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/?  He maintains a section of the BMT.  He did the BMT instead of the AT section from Springer to Davenport about a year ago when he tried to thru hike the AT.  Sgt Rock runs the white blaze site.

Check at the bottom of the referenced forum for a list of other long trails.  The BMT is listed and there are some rerlatively recent posts about the trail.  They might give you what your are looking for.  Stay warm and stead on your feet.
