Hello Guys and Gals,

This is my first post and topic on this forum, but not my first forum experience. I am much more of a car and mountain bike forum dweller.

Anyways, Myself and 4 friends are looking to do a three day, two night trek in the Cheaha Mountain area.

I am pretty sure I hiked this route many moons ago the Boy Scouts, but am looking for something a little longer and more challenging.

My first idea was to start on Odum scout then hit the Pinhoti and make the loop by either heading north or south then head back out on the Odum Scout.

Then the idea of actually going up to Cheaha state park was thrown out and I am struggling to come up good route to include that as well.

I have been using this map to plan the route.

Any suggestions about a good route would be amazing. It has been quite a while since I have planned a trip like this so any and all help as to camping spots, water spots, better maps or necessary gear would be greatly appreciated. Looks like I am going to be breaking out the good ole scout handbook too =)

Thanks,

Matt is correct, Skyway loop is hard to beat. 18.2 miles. If you want to add some length and include the state park, Start at the Cheaha TH and do,
1) Cave Creek to Nubbin
2) Nubbin to Odum juction, back to Pinhoti Junction.
3) Pinhoti to Skyway Loop or Chinabee either direction for the loop
4) Pinhoti via McDill back to Cheaha TH

That will give you an additional 10.7 miles & No shuttles

hi judman,

The forum answers this very same question several times per year so if you have time, try a search with proper keywords and read over lots of suggestions.
