Hello All,

Spent last weekend camping at Borden Creek and was surprised at the high water marks on top of the banks! There's a nice spot we like to the right of the bridge, and there were chunks of dead leaves 6 feet off the ground in the branches of all the small tress on the creek bank. When did this area flood that bad? It had to be 15 - 20 feet above the current level of Borden Creek. All the banks have been washed clean of leaves, branches everything. Mostly just bare dirt on both sides of the banks.

We also made our first trip down to Parker Falls via the parking by the end of the paved road on Kinlock. That side stream you follow down to Parker was very nice with the 4 tier water fall. Parker Falls was flowing nicely, and we checked out the Bill Tidwell tree, and as expected from Weatherman's report the carving was gone.

What's up with the large fire pit under tier 1 of that side stream? Someone spent alot of hours putting that together. It was a nice job! Anyone know of any hermits in that area?

The last big rain we had pushed the gauge at the picnic grounds past 30ft...

As for the Parker area, I think there was a hermit that lived there, actually.  Whether it was this shelter or not I couldn't tell you.  That pits degraded since I first saw it.  Thankfully I haven't seen anymore digging in the area the last few times I've ventures to Parker.

----------------------------
Upon closer inspection on my camping trip in December, i found remnant initials on the Tidwell tree, but not enough to make out words or anything.

I was under the impression all our hermits were no longer around. However, it wouldn't shock me if we added a new one recently. I do recall seeing a suspiciously new and perfectly laid out blue tarp when we did Eagle/Little Ugly in 2008.

I'm speaking of one of the ones mentioned in the Manasco book from decades back.  If it's the tarp at the junction it was there in '09, beat up, and I cut section out to use as seating material on a wet ground.  Too huge, I had no way of packing it out.  I think I've see it in other's photos on here from more recently.

Oh, okay, now I understand. Those hermits are the last I've heard of who stayed long-term. I suspect some shorter duration habitations have probably occurred, but haven't seen or heard anything conclusive.

The tarp was still pretty new in 2008, so it must have been left alone while it sat there. I wonder who left it and why. Oh well...

My wife and I got a big kick out of this post. It wasn't a hermit. It was me. My wife and I spent about 6 or 7( before kids ) New Years Eves in that spot and over the years we built that stone fire area. I had help from groups friends that joined us.  A friend of mine and I started it on a trip where we literally stubbled on this beautiful spot while camping in the area and I continued to come back year after year. Yes... it took many hours.
