I was hiking not too far from my home last week and found this tree.  It is exactly the same size as the boundary tree over in Indian Tomb (though there is only one arm and upshoot), so I was wondering everyone's opinion as to whether or not it may be a marker tree, since there haven't been too many noted in Morgan County.  Thanks for your thoughts and any further info. you may be willing to chip in on marker trees would be greatly appreciated!

It looks like a good marker tree to me. Native American trails passed through Morgan County so there should be more.  There are dozens in Bankhead. We find a new one almost every time we go hiking.  There are also trees that look like marker trees like this one:

so sometimes it is hard to tell if it's a true marker tree.

It looks like a good one. This winter I've started hunting marker trees in Morgan county. You should summit it to the Mountian Stewards of Georgia with the GPS cords. This is the closest I've found so far.

Cool guys, thanks for the information and sharing! I tend to think it probably is one as well, especially considering other relevant features in the area. I definitely think I will check into the mountain stewards site, especially since it's safe from the public where it is. Thanks again!

Hey Roscoe, just thought I'd let you know that I submitted this tree and its info to the mountain stewards site last night! Again, thanks for the info, really digging the site!
