This loop is in my top favs of Sipsey. Riddle Falls is amazing and the canyon that it falls into is very interesting as well. I've wanted to connect this area to Parker via the Quillan/Hubbard canyon but haven't yet. Just another reason to keep going back. Smiley I posted this report a while ago, but I've since cleaned up the tracks and guide if anyone is interested: http://www.alabamatentandtrail.com/

I did that loop this past weekend. What a nice hike!  I was going to park near the Arnold Motorway, but there were some cars there already, so I parked at Thompson.  I walked downstream on the west side of Thompson Creek and turned west up the first branch. If you follow it up and then cross over the ridge you'll end up  where  three branches form Riddle Creek.  I camped up on a pretty ridge behind Hole in the Roof Falls.  I didn't find the remains of either of the old mills, but I did see lots of arborglyphs. Also, I met a hunter looking for hogs. He was walking upstream on the second branch from the west that forms Quillan-I was going downstream. Nice guy named David. After talking for a while I wished him luck and headed downstream.

We must have missed each other...I camped with a co-worker out there Friday night downstream of the big log jam, first stream junction on the left.

Sorry I missed out on meeting you Sam.  I think you guys were way ahead of me though. I didn't arrive at the trailhead until about 0730.
