When we compare Alabama to our southeastern states, we find that Alabama has the lowest percentage (4.4 percent) of public lands
available for recreational use and land conservation, even after Forever Wild’s purchase of 200,000 acres over the last 17 years. Of these 200,000 acres 3431 acres alone were secured for Sipsey's Nature Preserve and Recreation Area, along with Walls of Jericho, and many other areas that likely many of you are already enjoying. If you agree that this program is worthwhile & wish to see it continue please spend a minute of your time letting your legislators know that you wish for the program to continue.

I highly encourage all of you to go here --> http://conservationalabam...m/takeaction.asp?aaid=775
& go to the bottom & submit your response to reauthorize Forever Wild so that it continues another 20 years. It takes less than a minute to do & is well worth the effort.

To learn more about what Forever Wild has done for you thusfar see --> http://www.outdooralabama...ild/ForeverWildReport.pdf

The bill is heading to the state senate after a passing vote by the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, looks like it has support from both sides but still faces uncertainty

This is good news, but we need to let our senators know how we expect them to vote.  We can't listen to ALFA and the timber companies when they say crap like the following from the above link....

"Opponents say the government is acquiring too much land and Alabama shouldn't be buying more public land when it is laying off state workers who look after public land."

If we don't set aside more land, the entire state is going to be either farmland, or pine plantation. ( except of course what is already paved over or strip mined)
