Just finished my first home made tarp.  Making an Auburn themed setup for a friend of mine who shipped off to Afghanistan.  Can't wait to give the setup to him when he gets back!

But he'll be getting a blue bodied orange bug netted hennessy clone to go with the tarp.

I would be hard pressed to beat Hennessy hammocks prices, but one thing that will come with the deal is lighter materials, better suspension, and the tarp will have much improved coverage.  Let me do the math on materials costs, and consider some of the labor involved and see what I come up with.

If colors are of no big issue I can likely make a complete setup with a hex (lots of coverage) or Pentagon (Lighter, but less coverage in the back of the hammock where it's not really needed.) for around $130.  That includes a complete hammock setup ready to hit the woods.  I'll just have to use whatever fabric suppliers I know that carry it for cheaper prices has in stock.  I can take color preferences, but can't really make any promises on colors.

Total package:
Screened hammock with zipper
Hex or Pentagon tarp depending on your desire there (I'd get the pentagon shaped one to save some ounces.)
Whoopie Sling suspension
Bishop Bag (stuff sack)
Tarp skins and stuff sack

I wouldn't be making much off my labor, but it's worth it to get people hooked up with some good hammocking gear.

Hammocks > tents
Tree straps (Polyester NOT Nylon)

looking good, I'm still working on my under quilt for the Hennessy. I have about 2 more hours to go and try to figure out a good way to get the down in it I don't want to do it in the house and if the wind is blowing, I'm not so sure about outside.

Nice work !   Is the tarp trimmed with orange grosgrain ribbon or is it ripstop?

It's trimmed in Bias Tape.  The next one will have Bias tape on the edges and Grosgrain on the ridgeline.

Thanks man, although working with SilNylon is a pain in the butt the project overall wasn't too bad.
