New member here, been lurking for about a week and now I have a question.  Anyone know of any problems with leaving a vehicle at the bullgap trailhead overnight?  After a long hiatus from backpacking, I have replaced practically all my gear and was wanting to do a out and back shakedown trip to give it all a trial run, oh and see how my wife takes to the trail since she has never done any backpacking before.  I am originally from Sylacauga and was planning on getting my parents (they still live in Sylacauga) to shuttle me to and from the trail head, but I found out last night they are going to be out of town.  I've got another place in mind if you guys think leaving my vehicle will be a problem.

Thanks!

Every journey begins with a single step.

My husband and I live in Sylacauga also. We have left our car at Bull's Gap several times without any problems.  Bull's Gap is a great trail.  It was my first taste of hiking and I fell in love with it.  We have hiked in a few miles, eaten lunch and hiked back.  Last fall, we hiked the whole section and finished at Porter's Gap after spending the night on the trail.  It is a great trail with a lot of diversity and beautiful views.  Enjoy!!!

Thanks, a lot.. I have been up there before on the skyway in my truck to some of the overlooks, but I have never hiked it.  We are both really looking forward to it.  This will be my wifes first taste of hiking also...

I've never had any problems with vandalism of my vehicle at any of the trailheads along the Pinhoti. I have heard reports of isolated incidents at trailheads along the northern sections. If you need a shuttle:Pinhoti Shuttle Service
