Did Lee close down the "Hiking Alabama" web site?.  It was not used much and Lee has not lived in Alabama for a long time so closing it would be natural since Alabama Trails now exists.  Lee's site got me into hiking the Pinhoti so I still checked the forum frequently.  Lately all I get is a white screen.

I think this is the site you are looking for.  It still works for me.  I think maybe there used to be two URLs for it?

Yea, That's the main site.  The page I'm not getting now is the forum.  Even following the links through his main page gets me a white page, no forum.  He's been hacked a couple of times so that could be the problem now or he might have retired the forum in favor of Matthew's forum.

Lee's website was one of the only sites i checked weekly for years and was a reason the web was great! A lot more focused than most sites but  Lee was hacked a few times years ago. I hope Lee can give us an update!!

I remember that site from a long time ago. I use to check it out and always wondered why it was never updated. Now I know why. It looks like it still has a lot of good info

To answer my own question, the forum is up and running again.  It is not often used but still, when it is used it has some good info.  I hate change and it was Lee's site that got me to hiking the Pinhoti so I'm sort of partial to it.

I know what you mean. I love Alatrails and all and this is the only forum I post and check simi-regularly now but the first one I was ever involved in was the original Trailplace forum with Wingfoot. It is the site that got me interested, educated, and into backpacking and it forms a strange bond even though it is/was just an internet site. Well one day I checked and that site had just disappeared and come to find out it was just shut down rather abruptly. Needless to say I was dissapointed but it did begin my search for a new site/community to participate in and ultimately brought me here. So it worked out pretty good all in all.
