Outside used to be superior to Backpacker, but not so much anymore.  It's still a fantastic mag considering how many we hiker/backpacker folk have to choose from, like all 4 of them.  Outside used to be very backpacker/rock climber centered, now it's a lot more broad in it's coverage.
