Hi, I posted a few months back looking for a partner for a thru hike on the Pinhoti later this month.  I found a partner, but they cancelled recently, so I'm looking again.  I plan to start in a few weeks and hike SOBO.  I'm still flexible on the exact dates.  If you're interested, please let me know.

thanks,
Aubry

Aubry,
I would be interested in hiking the road walk from 603A to Flagg Mtn. with you.
(I need those 2 sections to have completed all Alabama sections of the Pinhoti.)
Also, consider us for your logistic needs.

Hi Aubry,

Didn't notice an earlier post. I might try to fit in a thru- hike or at least 5-7 days. I've done all of it in 3 and 4 night sections.  what pace do you expect to walk and what dates?  I could fit it in easier next week than the end of July.

Send me an e-mail if you are in a hurry as I might forget to check back here.  I can walk a long way, but no problem walking less steps; I just bring another book or some music for my recorder !

Blisterbob, I'd like to check on one water source on Rebecca Mtn that I found when we were doing initial work on the trail to see what the summer flow is.  We might put a sign up if people prove it's reliable.

Those little huckleberries will be ripe now while the taller blueberries should be ripe at the end of July....... yumm yumm.  Make sure you camp beside a stream when at all possible to cool of in before bedtime with this heat. Camping on the ridgetop for a breeze is still IFFY in the summer. Bring deet and sleep out of the tent for a bit more breeze.

blisterbob, I totally intend to use your services again.  You shuttled me and friend and my dog back in March.

ednotmilkman, I have to thru hike in one trip.  I live in Florida and have small children, so I only have someone to watch them during the summer.

As I figure out the logistics, I'll keep anyone informed who wants to section hike.

Aubry;
I remember the previous shuttle.
As you finalize your plans for the thru hike consider these options.,
Safe parking at our  place close by the Pinhoti.
We have a nice picnic/ camp site if you want to try out your equip. before the trail.
Shuttle to any Pinhoti Trailhead.
Quick exit in case of problems on the trail.
Emergency contact phone numbers for your folks at home.
Re-supply of your pre-packaged food, water, etc. to trailhead locations.

I'll be able to start the night of Sunday July 24 at the earliest if that works for you. Should be able to go 6 days at least.
