Upper Tallapoosa Special Release

Just wanted to let you know that there will be an extra foot and a half of flow on the Tallapoosa River on Saturday August 27. This is a once in a year opportunity to have an exceptional float on this portion of the Tallapoosa. The extra flow is for a civic event where a fundraiser involves a rubber duck race on the river. That event will happen at 3pm but the extra flow will be from 0800 till 1800...a great opportunity to do the Tallapoosa like never before.

For anyone interested, we will offer a 6 mile trip from Malone to Wadley. This is normally not a fun float but with the extra flow it will be exceptional. Shuttle fee is $15 for anyone with their own boat and, of course, rentals are available for an additional fee. I hope someone in the organization will make this a "thing to do" as it is rarely available.

For newbies - wear shoes you will get wet, sun screen, maybe a hat, and nylon swimsuit and shirt if you want to be warm feeling, or cotton if you want to be cool feeling, retainers for glasses, leave your rings at home, let me know if you are allergic to bees (bring epinephrine shot if really bad allergic), bring lunch in zip locs, small cooler which you can tie into your boat, trash bag maybe, and bring a change of clothes
