I'm in the process of learning how to make some of my own gear. I'm going to start out with making a few stuff sacks and move on to a tarp and hammock setup. I am also a member of hammock forums and know there is a wealth of information there, but I wanted yalls opinion.  Where do you get your 1.1 silnylon and other hammock DIY materials?

I have made one hammock, one pack, one poncho tarp, two stuff sacks, two sleeping quilts, and one bug net shelter. All of the fabrics came from Wal Mart when they had it. All of it was 1.1 oz ripstop nylon and 2oz ripstop nylon. Most Wal Marts have phased out their fabric department now though. I bought the insulation for the quilts at hobby lobby and they have the same fabrics there but they were on the dollar rack at Wal Mart so I bought mine there. Hancock Fabrics also has this type material. I have not ordered any online yet because I bought so much from Wal Mart for $1 per yard.

I've bought stuff from http://questoutfitters.com/. They have a wide selection of DIY supplies, and great service.

The best prices for silnylon I've seen is usually from E-fabric Supplier. Wirerat posted a link here in a previous thread.
Also, you can make your own. Use odorless mineral spirits and clear 100% silicone. Mix in a 4 to 1 ratio. Brush on and scrape off excess.
Directions on Hammockforums.

efabric supplier also has special pricing for hammock forums members.  And they have the WIDE rip stop perfect for hammocks.  There is something special about using gear you made yourself.
