Would anyone like to put together and overnighter coming up here soon. I don't want to run over any important events such as the LNT trainers course or Cuff's workshops but I would like to get something put together soon.

Matthew,

I might be interested in an overnighter in a few weeks, if the temps stay a little warmer. I'd hate to have to leave the dog in a kennel.

I can think of a few good, not crowded, locations in Sipsey for an overnighter. Parker branch around the falls is supposedly a really nice area to spend the night, as is Eagle Creek, which has a really nice campsite but a scouting trip to find the non-drainage path might be required, as the deadfall would make getting anything larger than a school-type backpack through difficult.

I know backcountry camping became re-allowed on Jan. 31st, and it appears the fire order has been lifted, but somebody might want to check on that, because all the dates were 2007.

By the way, I got a good chuckle from the following section of the NFS website...

"The following act is PROHIBITED as set forth in 36 CFR 261.58: Being publicly nude.  36 CFR 261.58 (j)"

BUT

"Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e) the following persons are exempt form this order[:] Any Federal, State, or Local Officer or member of any organized rescue or fire fighting force in performance of any official duty."

What official duty would require being nekkid?

Perhaps you would be keeping someone from freezing to death.   angel

I am thinking about going somewhere on the 16th and 17th of Feb. I was thinking about the Pinhoti from Cave Creek trail North to cr 24 or fs 515.

That would be a great date but unfortunately i will not be able to make it. My schedule is on shaky ground for the next couple of weeks due to some family issues. So I am having to miss the leave no trace course and I don't want to put anything the next weekend either. Perhaps we could schedule 2 events. one for that date and one for the weekend of the 8th of march? Any takers?

I'm good for a March 8th-ish event, but not 2/16ish event. I'm probably going to have photographic priorities the next few weekends, between the increase in activity once those eaglets hatch, and the rising water levels finally threatening to make waterfall photography productive for the first time in a long while.

If you plan to go next weekend please post here. If no one post I will go somewhere else as this trip takes two cars. I will most likely go do the Skyway, Chinabee, Pinhoti loop.

Lawnmowwer,

Unfortunately I'm planning on doing some waterfall photography this weekend. I've got new gear to test, again. I'm thinking about a Saturday trip to either Turkey Creek or maybe, just maybe Eagle Creek in Sipsey. My photography gear is too large to permit camping, and I like photography more than camping. Wink
