I'm hoping to get away soon for an overnite hike in the Sipsey Wilderness! Where would you reccomend I go?
I've done a fair amount of hiking on the AT and have done a couple of overnites on the Pinhoti nnear Cheaha Mt.  How does the Sipsey  compare to those areas in terms of difficulty?
I will be taking some friends that are new to backpacking, so the more scenic the better! We will be driving in from Starkville, Ms.. With the days getting shorter I would prefer to hike no more than 5 or 6 miles a day!
Thanks

A couple of years ago, i took my son and daughters(all in their 20's and in reasonable shape) to the Big Tree.  We came in on 208 - where it meets with 203 and 200 - and hiked to 204, then down to Bee Branch canyon and the Big Tree.  It was approx 9 miles there and back, and we had a great time exploring the canyon.  The scenery on 208 wasn't much(it's an old Forest Road Bed), but the scenery in the canyon was well worth it.  Another good one is 200 to 209, then camp at Fall Creek Falls, or come in on 209 from the recreational area and camp at Fall Creek Falls.  You should be able to look at all these routes on maps.
