I've never been to either but want to go on my next hike. Are they both up 206 and close to each other?
I understand there are blow downs in the area and the trail is in bad shape. If not the next hike maybe in a month or 2. Just like to know for sure whre they are and how close to each other.

Word through the grapevine is that in another month the company the FS hired to clear the trails will start their work.  Coming from the Thompson trailhead, you'll see Ship Rock first, and the eye of the needle sits essentially right next to it.  With the canopy loss, the ship is easier to see now as well.  If I were going to approach that area right now, I'd take the Rippey trail in from the Randolph trailhead down to the river and cross.  It'd be a much easier walk.

Thats music to my ears. I was wanting to do an overnite loop hike down 201 to 209 and back down 202. Might still give it a try and if it's not all do able I'll just double back. Thanks for the info!!
