Just got off the trial and wanted to leave a quick report. The bridge / road at Pine Glen is closed, you cant get any closer to Pine glen than the intersection of 500 and 531. Park along the road and walk a short distance down the road to the Pine Glen trail crossing OR, take a chance and move the barricade, drive down to Pine Glen and park there. The entrance to the trail is all dug up due to the bridge construction and is hard to get to. We walked over the bridge, turned right into the woods and bush whacked back towards the creek until we intersected the trial. The hike to the shelter is an easy 5 miles, this section is probably the flattest section of the Pinhoti and is also in need of some TLC. The trail has several blow downs that you must walk around or over. We moved several of the smaller blow downs, however, others will require a saw.  The trail is overgrown in places, there are a lot of branches hanging over the trail that are face / head level, be careful not to let one smack you in the face. Like many sections of the Pinhoti, this section is not very well marked.  The fire pit at the shelter is a large mound of ashes from hundreds of camp fires. We picked up several plastic water bottles and other trash along the trail as we hiked, most of  the trash was near the Sweat water Lake boat ramp.

See you in the great outdoors.

Thanks for the trail report.
A couple hikers did that section southbound 2 weeks ago and reported no problems in the const. area.
The USFS had re-routed the trail temporarily on 500 from Sweetwater Lake to Pine Glen.
I will pass along your post to 2 more hikers starting SB at Coleman today.
