Had a great day awaiting our arrival for a day of hiking. Arrived at the Pinhoti Trailhead on Cheaha to do the TH to Blue Mtn Shelter, Bald Rock and back with the scouts of Troop 10 Oxford. We opted to take cave creek trail instead after talking about it on the way there. Took a few pics at the archway and headed out. The first drainage was flowing nicely. Lot's of water with the recent rains. Took a break and lunched at the overlook. Continued on down to cave creek with another nice flow also. Visited with several groups that we passed as we made our way to the cave.
Took the guys to see the cave and explored a little. Wasn't planning on the cave trip so didn't bring any lights but looked around as much as was possible. The boys sure enjoyed getting to see it. The large campsite near the overlook had a group looking like they were going to use it for the night and ran across several other groups on the way back to the parking area.  Returning to the parking area to find some trail magic hanging off my truck. A wonderful bag of home made cookies and other goodies. Had to be Blisterbod & Shadow Sue, I was thinking and I was correct, found the calling card. Thanks Bob & Sue.

Carl;
Thanks for the update.
It was good to hear that the group had a positive 1st. outing on the trail.

Do something nice and totally unexpected for someone......
it drives them crazy!

I saw the stuff on the truck when we was coming out to the parking area. I knew Blisterbob had been there. PM me your address. I've got something for you.

Steve, there was water a plenty. Heading south, the first draw was already dry but the spring about a half mile in was flowing real nice. The upper horse creek trib was real slow and cave creek was flowing more than I'ver ever seen. You could hear it well before you got to the crossing.

Glad to hear Troop Ten had a fun hike. Sorry I couldn't be there. I hope y'all have many more great outings soon.

Regarding the trail magic: Us Pinhoti area hikers really have it nice lately thanks to BB and SS.
