How many folks is average group size & what range of ages are doing the Pinhoti Challenge these days?
well, i'd say "big". The list has 26 people signed up as of now:

I've been to a couple of the challenge hikes, so I'm only speaking from that experience. There will probably be some no-shows. Also, the wilderness area limits group sizes to 10, so we split up and meet back together at key points on the trail. This is a point-to-point hike, so we'll leave a few vehicles at the end point first then carpool to the start.
Range of ages? Well, that is pretty diverse, too, it seems 20s and up, but mostly older than that. "Middle aged" would probably describe most folks. Kids under 14 or so are discouraged, as they might hold the group back. Since the group will break up into groups of 10, no matter if you're fast or slow you can fit in somewhere.
