Does any know when or if the pocket guides from pinhotitrailalli ance.org are going to be available again.  I'm planning to do the trial later this year, and was wanting a copy.

Solo makes the same info available online down the left hand side - just choose the section(s) you will be hiking and print.

Thats what I've done for the sections I've done.  But thought it would be nice to have a little booklet, and to support  a local hikers work.

OK, I'm behind the curve. What is Solo and where can I find this info?

We've purchased two of his guides, but really like the detail he provides in the "snailtrail" versions online. And speaking of guides ... we were hiking part of section 7 this past weekend and could not find the "dead truck" at mile 86.6 in Solo's guide. Either it's vanished or three of us are going blind.

We did section 7 this past weekend and didn't see the truck. We looked for it ....I thought the same thing as  you, must be going blind! Where you the guys at the creek crossing that we talked to?

If I remember correctly, it was a panel truck. Solo says it is a Chevy, Here's a picture

It was in pretty rough shape, but maybe somebody needed parts. Lots of old roads in that area,so extraction would not be impossible.
Could this be a rare case of trash disappearing from the landscape?

Here is the link about the guide being discussed.

http://www.pinhotitrailal...org/pocketguideorder.html

I ordered mine last year & while most of the info is on the site I had no problems paying the small $ for such valuable information. It will likely come in even more handy in Georgia as I don't think they even have maps such as the 5 maps that Alabama has so this may be all the info you can find about the trail.

I also believe I have a picture of the missing truck mentioned on section 7 from last year. I will see if I can find it & what date it was taken.

Yes, we were at Hillabee Creek campsite scoping things out for a hike in March for a group of folks from Georgia? You're not the one that crossed the creek by sitting and sliding on the fallen tree are you?? That was funny

Yes, that was me, it worked out OK, but I thought for a moment that I was going swimming. I hope that the old truck is still there and we just missed it. we did find what looked like the hull of a boat several miles past Hillabee Creek that I have never noticed before ....Tornado debris maybe.

That would make sense as to why you didn't see it as it was right off the trail & hard to miss. Wonder if all the other trail cars are going to start disappearing?
