This will be a 7.8 mile hike over Indian Mountain beginning at the Salem Church Road crossing located off of US 278 east of Piedmont and ending at the Jackson Chapel Road in Georgia.  The section of the Pinhoti is characterized by rocky terrain, ledges, some steep ascents/descents, and several scenic overlooks. The departure time and location for this hike is 8:00 a.m. from the Piggly Wiggly  parking lot (1601 Quintard Avenue) in Anniston.  Please contact Larry Warren by phone at 256-835-0870, or by email at larry.f.warren@gmail.com, if you have any questions or plan to participate in this hike.

One of the best, it not THE best, views on the Pinhoti can be found in this particular section - looking back south all the way to Dugger with all the in between ridges - Oakey, Augusta, Davis, etc. And there is an excellent rock face to sit on and enjoy the scenery. Also some good views back into Georgia

I totally agree! The most long range panoramic views with no sign of civilization, and to the NW an appreciation for the size of Weiss lake.

Last time I was through there the Alabama and Georgia state flags really needed to be replaced at the state line. I may have access to an Alabama State flag if you are interested in taking it.

Here's a video of the referenced view I posted a while back:

Looks like the weather is going to be great for Saturday. Buck I would be happy to take the flag and replace it.  Let me know how to pick it up. Thanks.
