Randall, You need to shoot Angrysparrow or Hetori a PM. They finished up this past fall and I bet they could give you any information that you need.

Hey Randall,

Skippy messaged me to tell me to check in here.  Myself and my buddy just finished paddling the entire ASRT in December.  We started in Rome, GA at the headwaters of the Coosa River, and paddled through to Fort Morgan (about 660 miles total).

We'll be happy to help answer any questions you have.  We probably have the most recent overview of the whole trail of just about anybody.

Here's some pics from our journey, maybe 600 pics total.

Thanks Guys. I'll definately be getting back with some questions. I just worked third shift and am ready to hit the sack. I'm planning to begin my trip at Brushy Branch and go from there. I'll paddle from Sat. morning until noon or so the next Sunday where I'll let family know where I'm at to pick me up.Catch up with you soon. I'm planning to start in early April.

Awesome set of photos!  I've really enjoyed browsing them, and this all but settles it, I'm going to save to buy a kayak this year.

Awesome set of photos!  I've really enjoyed browsing them...

I'm glad you enjoyed them.

As far as I know that is the largest collection of pictures from all along ASRT in one place.  The few others that have paddled the whole trail haven't published many pics.

We'd love to hear from any other folks that have or are planning to paddle the ASRT.  We'd like to hear others stories, and there's a lot of info we can share.  FWIW, we also made a complete descent of the Tallapoosa River in 2010, so we'll happily talk about that river as well.  Smiley

Notify me at Fredcanoes@aol.com President of Alabama Scenic River Trail with your email address and I will send it to several of the people who have already completed the trail.  By the time you leave we should have several shorter portage trails approved by Alabama Power.

That sounds wonderful about the shorter portage trails. You take what you get, but some of them do look a little long and theres nothing like having to lug a boat loaded for a week cross country to zap your energy for why you're really there,to paddle. Thanks for the info
