"A group of Lawrence County High School Students entered the Samsung Solve For Tomorrow Challenge, and won a $70,000 technology grant. Their submission could still win a lot more money for the school.

The students had to find an environmental issue and come up with solutions. The students, led by science teacher Belinda Cross, decided to tackle the problem of the wild hog population explosion. Wild hogs cost American farmers an estimated $1.5 billion a year in crop damage and they have a direct affect on the ecosystem.

The students got out of the classroom and went to work into Bankhead National Forest."
