Well I'd been looking for a tent that'll fit all 5 of us, didn'y weigh a ton or cost a fortune. And I finally found it on sell! It's a Kelty Trail Dome 6 it weighs a scant 14lbs and I found it as a 2nd on
outdooroutlet.co
m for $99.99
(REI's price was $270).
Now I just need to get this stinkin' leg healed and get outside!!

So, you set up it in the backyard yet? Given it a good test run? How's about some pictures of this new toy? We all want to see! Not that I really want to carry 14lbs, but I do want to see it.
The test run in the backyard under the sprinkler was the moment that the seams desperately needed sealing! You learn a good bit in the back yard too

Actually I just ordered it. So I haven't gotten it yet. (and they immediatley went out of stock after I got my confirmation email).
But as soon as i get it, I'll give it a good hosing. I swam enough in my tent last summer.

Something must be in the air. Maybe it's the spring "twitter-pated" coming up. Matthew and I got a new tent ourselves, but alas on it's first trail out there was no battery on the camera (sorry, my bad). We'll definitely have some pics of it from our upcoming spring break trip
I'll stop there for now... Matthew will be hurt if I steal his thunder.

I think it is going around . I just got Me an Alps Mountaineering Zepher2. No rain tent yet, so far I like it. It is less than a pound more than a Hubba Hubba or a Skyledge2 at half the MSRP.

Congrats on the new tents! I'm sure you will all share your "test" results with the rest of us. I'm still thinking of upgrading the Rock 22.... Not yet sure of making this investment right now because I want to be able to enjoy using it. All feedback on your findings will be appreciated by the rest of us! Happy Trails and may your tent stay dry... Rob

Thunder Stealing....
Matt and I purchased a Hubba Hubba to replace our Kelty Gunnison, a tent I loved and very much recommend. Luckily (?) for us it actually rained on the HH's maiden voyage. It held up very well in the 1000% humidity/drizzle/rain cloud we camped in. Because the tent is almost all mesh the condensation from 2 people and a mid sized dog deeply breathing in slumber was well ventilated. The moisture wicked to the fly where it rolled down onto the ground and the inside was dry dry. I became a human popsicle, but that was the worst of the trip. I can't wait until it's warm and dry enough to ditch the fly so I can actually see the stars at night. I've never camped in a mostly mesh tent and it will be a new experience.
Other notables: the HH tent stakes look like square red crochet needles, and I'm not sure how useful they are yet. Also the poles attach to both the tent and fly, so you almost have to erect the tent by itself, and undo:reattach each corner once you have the fly in place. My fingers were painfully cold at this point and I was not pleased.
Matt, Missy and I went to the Cheaha Wilderness and hiked up the Nubbin Creek Trail, to the Cave Creek Trail and were going to do a larger loop, but between the rain and cold last weekend we bagged it. I am proud of my fur child though, she learned all about stream crossing and got brave enough to cross them herself on the way back, despite her prissy upbringing. I promise there will be pictures next trip. Spring break starts in one week 8)

Great choice in HH. I almost got one myself. I got the Zephyr on the Scout deal. Couldn't pass that up. Working with scouts does have some benefit other than the life long friendships and getting to teach the kids to be responsible your men.

Here's that pic I promised. Unfort, I haven't gotten it out in the woods yet. In 2 weeks we'll do some car camping w/ it. (Ditching the leaky Coleman cabin tent).
