I am beginning my planning for the Pinhoti.  Of course this has started a great many questions.  I have ordered the map set (which is not here yet) and plan on ordering the 2008 trail guide.  My net research has created some questions.  I would love to do a thru hike although do not have the vacation time from work to do such.  So I will have to do section hikes.  I plan on starting at the southern terminus and working north.

Having never taken on a task such as this, planning for this has become a little more than I expected.  I hope to hike some sections in Sept,Oct, and possibly early November depending on the weather.  Then I will finish in March, April of 2009.

I read on the internet that some of the sections could be done as day hikes.  Is this true?  If so I may can get more done this fall than I thought.

Any advice or suggestions you may have will be greatly appreciated.

If you do 10 miles a day, that will get you from trailhead to trailhead in many sections.  Or 20 mile weekends, but study your maps.

I did from Bull's Gap to Cheaha Park last week, 45 miles or so, NOBO
