Wild South staff-members and volunteers lead hikers into the hills and deep canyons of the Bankhead National Forest and Sipsey Wilderness the last Saturday of every month. Everyone 12 years and older welcome (contact us about hikes for kids and families!)

Hurricane Creek to Sipsey River
Lead by Bob Crow
Level of challenge: Difficult. For experienced hikers only. Off-trail
bushwhacking, steep climbs.
Distance: 4 ½ mile loop.
Tallest (?) waterfall in Bankhead, numerous waterfalls and cascades, very
deep canyon.
Indian Tomb Hollow
Lead by Janice Barrett
Level of challenge: Moderate. Much off-trail, some steep hillside climbing.
Distance: Approx. 3+ miles through-hike
Native American and pioneer cultural area, prime wildflower site, Gillespie Creek
Mattox Creek
Lead by Carroll Wilson
Sipsey Wilderness
Level of challenge: Moderate.
Distance: Approx. 4 mile loop
