hi,

I just uploaded 2 pics to the gallery, but the 3rd is oversize, only 1090 vs 1024 limit ??
How do I compress it or crop it just a bit?  I'm no expert on these things

I have a version of NERO that can resize but I don't think there is a free version.  The Gimp will do it too.  The Gimp is a little complicated and does a whole lot of stuff with images and graphics.  It can be downloaded for free at gimp.org.

The software that came with your camera will probably at the least lower the resolution of the picture so we can see it.
Copy the original, and then play with the copy until you get it to a size you can upload.

Remember, an image thats say 1024 x 768, will appear as large as the monitor screen on most people's computer.

Use to be, a picture file bigger than 100k would take forever to download...  remember the days on dialup, when it took so long.... to see a picture !?  lol

Anyway... no expert here, just my thoughts...

1. You could upload it to Webshots and use their sizer on the side. It has the option to post 100, 200, 425, 500, and 600 pixel sized images regardless of the file size. That will help, but it will not solve all of your problems

2. Download Picasa which is a free editor program hosted through google. It will allow you to edit, resize, and organize all of your photos on your computer. You can also effortlessly send them to an online storage site through google and have them ready whenever you need them.

3. If you have a copy of Photoshop, you can tell it to resize your photos to any given size needed. For starters, I'd recommend Photoshop Elements 5.0 or 6.0. Usually you can find this around $50-$70 if you catch it on sale.

Hope any of those will help you with your resizing. Ask away if you have any more questions.

I personally recommend picasa from google. It will help you resize your pictures and you can even upload them to a picasa web album for yourself. I appreciate you sharing you pictures with us. I would set the limit for upload higher but that would start to gouge us on bandwidth over time.
