I have a Katadyn Hiker Pro and after running a boat load of water through it I still get small carbon particles in my water.  Has anyone else that has a Katadyn Hiker Pro seen this issue?

Sounds like you may have a tear in the post carbon portion of the filter material. Have you tried a different cartridge for it? The carbon itself won't hurt you but I fear the possibility of other stuff getting through. Take a liter of clean water and mix 3-4 drops of blue food coloring in it. Filter it through and if the filtered water has the least little bit of a blue tint to it get a new filter cartridge.

I have never had a problem with mine.

I think Matt is right. Sounds like a tear or defect. I have the same unit and have had no problems.

I used my Hiker Pro on 3 trips and never had a problem with the water quality.  My only issue was that it was SLOW!!!  I returned it to REI and ordered an MSR Hyperflow.  It is on backorder but I will give a report once I get a chance to use it.  Last trip I was on a guy with an MSR filter(not the Hyperflow) pumped twice the quantity of water as I did in half the time!!!
